Voices of Nashville: Immigration and Community

In 2012, Tennessee Women's Theater Project commissioned local playwrights Christine Mather and Sara Sharpe to write a play that explores Nashville's immigration experience from the point of view of Nashville's new Americans. Sara and Christine have been interviewing people in the community, and crafting their stories of heartbreak and triumph into a play designed to introduce Nashvillians to their new neighbors. The result of their work, "Voices of Nashville: Immigration and Community," will have its world premiere on October 4, and open our 2013-14 season. Afterwards, Voices will tour to community centers, civic organizations, schools and other locations - many of the tour performances will be free. The funds raised through this Kickstarter campaign will get us to opening night.
